The Serengeti National Park, meaning ‘endless plains’ from the Maasai language is located in the north western area of Tanzania.It covers nearly 15,000 square kms of short grass plains and is an exceptional landscape for wildlife viewing.

The Serengeti National Park is world famous for the annual migration where over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras migrate south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, and then travel west and north after the long rains in April, May and June. Leopard, Lion and cheetah are also widespread as well as a huge concentration of gazelles.

The National Park is broadly divided into three distinct areas, the Seronera Valley and Seronera River, the Western Corridor and the Northern Lobo area that extends northwards to join the Maasai Mara in Kenya
