Day 1

Arrive Cape Town International airport. On arrival you will be met by a representative who will hand over your detailed travel digest and talk through your self drive trip. They will also assist you with collecting your hire car.
Drive into Cape Town & stay overnight at the Cape Grace Hotel for a four night stay. The hotel has prime location in the Waterfront with easy access to restaurants, shops and bars.

Day 2

Spend the day exploring Cape Town.
Spend a second night at Cape Grace Hotel

Day 3

Spend another day discovering Cape Town and the surrounding area. Perhaps take a drive into the winelands, only a short distance away.

Day 4

Final day to explore or to catch up on some shopping in the Waterfront malls.

Day 5

Commence your journey, with your first stop at Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, located a few miles from Hermanus and an ideal spot to view the whales (in season). Grootbos Nature Reserve is rated among the most beautiful of Conservation Reserves and offers five-star accommodation to its visitors.

Day 6

Full day at Grootbos, enjoying a number of activities: Specialist guides lead 4x4 drives and walks through the fynbos and forests of the reserve, trips to the nearby coast to view the Southern Right Whales from land, walks along deserted beaches, visits to archaeological and cultural sites, boat-based whale watching trips, boat tours to a nearby seal island to view coastal birds, penguins, seals and great white sharks

Day 7

Commence your journey to Rosenhof Country Lodge, which dates to 1852 and has been carefully restored and furnished with South African art and fine antiques. The lodge’s 12 air-conditioned guestrooms are built around an open courtyard.

Day 8

Leave Rosenhof to head for Knysna. Why not stop at the Cango Caves and Cango Wildlife Ranch on the way. Book into a deluxe suite at the St James Hotel, an owner run, five-star country house. Luxuriously appointed suites with antique furniture have of the gardens of across the lagoon towards Knysna Heads.

Day 9

Take the day to explore the Knysna area.

Day 10

Today you will continue your journey from Knysna onto safari at Shamwari Bayethe Lodge, located in the Malaria Free Shamwari Private Game Reserve. Bayethe is a splendid stone walled and thatch roofed lodge with a large deck area overlooking a waterhole. There is a double volume lounge and dining area which spills out onto the deck which is adjacent to the outside boma for traditional fireside dining under the stars. The 9 luxury tents are camouflaged under trees allowing for ample privacy and unsurpassed comforts. Each tent is air-conditioned and heated and has an en-suite bathroom, shower, private plunge pool and viewing deck.

Full day at Shamwari Bayethe Lodge, with game drives & activities

Day 13

Drive to Port Elizabeth and return your car before catch an onward flight to Johannesburg. Connect onto your international flight or extend your trip with a beach extension to Mozambique or Mauritius.
