The capital of South Africa, Johannesburg is located in the north of the country.It’s high-rise buildings tower beside a few remaining dilapidated Victorian buildings, and affluent northern suburbs give way to the squalid streets and tiny shoebox houses of the massive Soweto township in the south.

There is little in Johannesburg itself worthy of the attention of visitors, but an interesting excursion is the ‘Heritage Route’ or ‘Shebeen Crawl’ tour of Soweto.

Johannesburg has some dangerous neighbourhoods and you need to take care.We do not recommend that you walk around after nightfall
