Kipungani Explorer Hotel, Lamu  

Kipungani is an idyllic resort on the beach in Lamu island. The hotel is reached via a 90-minute flight from Nairobi to Manda Island followed by a boat trip to reach the desert island sanctuary, just two degrees south of the equator. Kipungani features just 13 traditionally-constructed beachfront ’bandas’ and four raised stilt houses. Local staff provide fantastic service and there is an infinity pool overlooking the beach, an intimate restaurant, beach-facing lounge and bar and terrace with hanging ’funzi’ beds. You can even take bird watching walks around the property.
