Located right in the heart of the prime game viewing area and directly on the route of The Great Wildebeest Migration, Governors Camp has been described as ’’ The prime wildlife real estate in the World’’. The camp has recently been refurbished with 36 stunning new permanent safari style tents, nestling in the forest along the winding banks of the Mara River, it’s waters teeming with hippo and crocodile or with views over the grassy plains. Governors Camp is the home of the Big Cat Diary. The BBC Natural History Unit has filmed four Big Cat Diary Series from Governors Camp. In their most recent series, which was filmed in September 2004, almost all the filming was done within a 6 kilometre radius of Governors Camp
It is highly recommended for a 2 night stay to fully explore the Maasai Mara National Park
Itinerary - Duration: 2 nights / 3 days
Itinerary Day 1 Fly from Wilson Airport straight into Maasai Mara (50 minutes). On arrival you will be transferred to Governors Camp. Evening game drive for a first view of the wildlife species for which the Mara is famous
Day 2 A full day in the Mara with morning game drive followed by lunch at your safari camp and then evening game drive
Day 3 An early morning game drive followed by breakfast and then transfer to the airstrip for your Air Kenya flight to Wilson Airport, Nairobi
Access and Distance
The property is best accessed by air from Nairobi (50 minutes) to an all weather landing strip just a few minutes from the camp. Alternatively the camp is at least 6 hours by road from Nairobi
