A 10 night holiday combining an authentic safari staying in a luxury eco bush camp in Kenya and a cultural beach stay on the fascinating Ibo Island in Mozambique.
Amboseli Porini ia an exclusive camping experience which offers fantastic personal attentive service in a simple yet luxurious surrounding. This is the original Porini eco tourism camp (winner of Silver Esok award 2005). It is set in 15,000 acres of private conservancy land bordering Amboseli giving you exclusive usage during your stay. Great care is taken over the preservation of the natural surroundings to ensure that as little environmental impact as possible occurs as a result of your stay in this eco system.
Ibo Island Lodge is situated on the Indian Ocean paradise of Ibo Island, just north of the small town of Pemba in the pristine Quirimbas Archipelago, Northern Mozambique. The lodge is located on the prime waterfront site, where romantic dhows sail out to sea on each high tide. The lodge encompasses three magnificent mansions each over one hundred years old with walls over a meter thick and lofty high ceilings. All bedrooms are individually designed and unique, with many opening onto private verandas, decked with hand crafted furniture and soft cushions covered in vibrant local fabrics.
Day 1 Arrive in Nairobi and overnight in Nairobi hotel
Day 2 Depart Nairobi and drive south to Selenkay Conservation Area (a 3 hour journey of 102 miles), arriving at Porini Camp before lunch. Following afternoon tea, you will be escorted on a walk by Maasai warriors to a village to get an insight into their fascinating culture and way of life. Return to camp for a shower, dinner and overnight
Day 3 Awake to the noisy calls of the birds. After an early breakfast, we drive through the bush on our private track into Amboseli National Park, for a full morning of game viewing. Following a picnic lunch in the park, we return to Porini Camp later in the afternoon. In the evening you will go on a game drive in Selenkay Conservancy, stopping for a sundowner at a scenic viewpoint, followed by a night game drive to look for nocturnal animals such as aardvarks, serval cats, caracals, bat-eared foxes, African wild cats, and other species. Return to camp for dinner and overnight
Day 4 Early morning game drive in the Conservancy followed by breakfast. Then depart on the transfer back to Nairobi, arriving around 1 pm for lunch at The Carnivore Restaurant. After lunch, you’ll visit Nairobi National Park for the afternoon retuning to the airport in time to catch your 1800 flight down to Pemba, Mozambique arriving at 1910. You will be met and transferred to Pemba Beach Hotel for the night.
Day 5 You will be collected after breakfast for your small flight hop to Ibo Island. Ibo is a potential World Heritage Site and therefore the rooms have been designed to incorporate the original architecture of the buildings. All are individually designed and unique. The island itself is steeped in history & culture
Day 6 Ibo Island Lodge, perhaps join the Ibo Island Historical Experience - Guided historical and cultural activities enabling you to immerse in the unchanged, ancient culture of Ibo.
Day 7 Ibo Island Lodge, take a sunset cruise and mangrove Excursion
Day 8 Ibo Island Lodge, one of the most beautiful and pristine beach in the Quirimbas Archipelago is closely accessed from the island, and one of Ibo’s best kept secrets… A 15 minute motorised boat trip takes you to the most perfect beach surrounded by sea and totally luxurious in seclusion. Here you are free to enjoy the dazzling aquamarine clear waters perfect for snorkelling, swimming and relaxing. A daily transfer to the beach is included for all guests
Day 9 Ibo Island Lodge, join in with some of the cultural, conservational & community interactive experiences
Day 10 Ibo Island Lodge, relax at the lodge around one of the two swimming pools and indulge in Ibo Massage & Healing Treatments
Day 11 After breakfast you will be transferred back to Pemba & depart on the 1225 flight arriving in Nairobi at 1700. Connect to your international flight back to UK
